about

After trying to solve the mystery of the Hans Staymer Band version of our song Six Feet Under Water (also included on this Bandcamp page and still being sleuthed) I've been reminded by a few people that there was another very good version of it recorded by the Al Harlow Band a few years later (1976 -77?). Al's version was much closer to the original demo that we had done to show the song around. After much digging I did find a version that Al Harlow had shared with me a few years ago that he had re-mastered at Ray Ropers studio for a possible new album (don't tell anyone!).

lyrics

Six Feet Under Water

I don’t know if I can hold it inside any longer
I don’t know if this feeling can get any stronger
It’s like the kind of a death
Where you’re right out of breath
I might never rise up again
When I'm six feet
Six feet
Six feet under water.

You know she’s cruel, uh huh
And I will never, never rise up again
You know she’s cruel, uh huh
And I will never, never rise up again

I’ve been told that I’d never be able to keep her
Tried to hold her but she only keeps pulling me deeper
It’s like my pride is a crown
And it’s dragging me down
I might never rise up again
When I'm six feet
Six feet
Six feet under water

You know she’s cruel, uh huh
I may never, never rise up again
You know she’s cruel, uh huh
I may never, never rise up again

In a note I told her meet me on down by the river
If she showed it was only to stand there and shiver
Because the chances are small
She heard me at all
I might never rise up again
When I'm six feet
Six feet
Six feet under water

You know she’s cruel, uh huh
And I may never, never rise up again
You know she’s cruel
And I wmay never, never rise up again
